A Channel 4 documentary from 1994, somewhat pointlessly taken apart and put back together again using 2026 search techniques. Pyannote and Granite were used for diarization and transcription, and Moondream was used to lift contributors from the on-screen captions. Using DINOv2 and watching embedding drift, the show was split into 718 shots, which each one described by Moondream.
The transcriptions and shot descriptions were indexed into an in-browser hybrid search engine which gets loaded on-demand for the first search and is kept around until the browser window closes.
On top of all that, because I just can't let it lie, the shots were also fed into a Tree-SAE model (trained on a very particular set of documentaries from one infamous BBC documentarian) to show the hierarchy of shot types used in the series. Is it useful? Almost certainly not.
